Entice: It is never easy to lose a loved one. Your grief is made worse (compounded) by the season. What is supposed to be a time of rejoicing has become a season of mourning. Throughout your lives you will mark the Christmas season of 2019 as when we buried Grandpa.

Engage: I understand that today hurts. The pain is emotional, fearful, spiritual. There is no real replacement for those we lose. But there is one who knows our sorrow and invites us to bring it all to Him.

Hebrews 4:16 ESV
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Expand: The Bible does not need lots of words to teach us something important about God's ability and our need. You've cried and will cry some more. Jesus understands tears and invites you to share them with Him. You're probably angry. Jesus understands anger and invites you to bring it to Him. You are scared. Jesus understands fear. He invites you to bring Him your fear and you will find that His perfect love casts out fear.

Shut Down: Your time of needs.

This is certainly a time of need. You are experiencing loss that you cannot name and will soon try to fill a void which seems beyond your capacity. In our most difficult times of need Jesus can be most present. All we must do is draw near to Him.
I ask God's blessing upon you. May His peace bring you wholeness. May His word bring you comfort. May you find grace and receive mercy as you draw near to Him.
